This project involved a small Addition to a classic Victorian home in Evanston’s Lake Shore Historic District, just a few blocks from Lake Michigan. Much of the home had already been renovated including the Kitchen but there was nowhere for the family to eat, other than the original formal Dining Room.
They came to us for ideas on solving this problem. The solution involved a small single-story Addition adjacent to the existing Kitchen which provided a large Breakfast Room plus a much needed Mud Room located off the rear facade. Matching wood flooring, ceiling heights, and Interior Trim details from the original house are all extended into the new Addition. Concurrently, the wood siding and window trim of the original residence was repeated on the exterior of the new Addition in order to unify the exterior elements.
