In the 1970s, the Village of Wilmette moved its 19th century train station three blocks west in order to build a new commuter station. That building, the oldest in Wilmette, sat unused for years until our client leased it from the Village and retained our firm to renovate & reconfigure this historic structure as a new restaurant, Depot Nuevo. Our solution preserved the old Waiting Room as the Dining Room augmented by a new addition, housing Kitchen & bathrooms, that was visually consistent with the original 19th century structure, pleasing both our client and Village preservationists.
