This project involved transforming a 1960’s suburban ranch residence for a client scaling down from a much larger home who wanted a “jewel box,” a smaller home with fine finishes and detailing, for their retirement. We elected to emphasize the Prairie School lines of the house on the exterior and carry that theme through the interior details and finishes. The floor plan was completely reconfigured and a screen porch was added across the back of the house to take full advantage of the 1/2 acre site. The result was a complete transformation of this property from wallflower to a showplace residence for the neighborhood.
