NW Evanston has many “Cottage Style” homes, built in the early 20th century. An academic couple purchased one such residence, unchanged since the 1950’s, and hired our firm to renovate and expand the existing structure while respecting its original character. Improvements included a new Addition at the rear of the house with a grand Kitchen, Mud Room & Laundry. The original low Basement was excavated down to provide a Guest Suite and Rec Room in the lower level. A first floor Master Suite plus two second floor Guest Bedrooms complete the work. The finished product combines 21st Century technology with a respect for the Shingle Style Cottage character of the original home.
